Challenge Week 3: Apps
Here are some apps I use on a regular basis. These are the apps that get me in trouble with my parents because I never put down my iPad to talk with them.
Wattpad: Wattpad is a veritable treasure trove of literature! It has fanfiction, romance, horror, poetry, comedy, original work, classics, and so much more! It has unpublished, and published, finished, and unfinished. I have over 200 different stories in my library, and six or so poems published. You can be under an alias, or you can use your real name. Wattpad has a free app, and you can access it online in a pinch. There are so many different ways to use this app. I’ve just finished reading The Odyssey and The Iliad, and before then, I was re-reading The Secret Garden for the millionth time. Before then, I was reading a Harry Potter fanfiction (obviously!) and still, even before then, I was reading a compendium of Norse, Gaelic, Irish, Scottish, Jewish, Greek, and Indian mythology. The storys’ of Yggdrasil and Odin, Hekate and Hades, Jonah, Noah and the Ark, the Desert Wanderings, Scathatch and Setanta/Cuchulain. Now, I’m starting The Story of Joan of Arc, the Maid of Orleans. There is so much to discover in the hidden, electronic shelves of Wattpad.
TE Tuner: THE go-to app for tuning, recording, playing back, and finding a nice harmony for people in orchestra, band, and choir. I use it for my chair placement recordings, just like everyone else in orchestra. I can record and listen to my practicing easily. It only takes two clicks of a button! The microphone records clearly, all you have to do is click your screen. Then, with another click, you can hear your playing/singing.
iTunes: You can find so many genres of songs, books, and movies. I can find literally anything I want. I found Coldplay, The Penderwicks, Harry Potter, Christina Perri, and so much more. But y’all already know that. There is the single of the week, which is a free song of any genre and artist. You can find complete albums, you can add to your wish list, and you can get individual songs. iTunes is also a way to completely waste your money. I was given a $10 gift card, and spent that in five minutes. Sad, huh?
Etsy: Etsy is a online store for artists who can’t sell enough to have a store, people who do art part time, and homemade goods. There is the biggest price range ever- I found a Harry Potter time turner for 75¢ and I found a necklace for $1,000. Middle, I think, is a statement ring for $410. Everything is really nice quality, no matter the price. You can find jewlery, clothing, wall decals, shoes (I found some Ravenclaw-themed high-top converse, mom! (Hint, hint)), furniture, pens, and miscellaneous. Etsy also makes it easy for you, there’s a heart in the corner that you tap if you like something, and to buy it, all you have to do is click the image, purchase, wait, and enjoy!
Last, but not least is…
Tumblr: While not all the posts are appropriate, Tumblr is THE site/app to go to for fandom stuff. There’s Harry Potter, Doctor Who, Star Trek, Sherlock, and pretty much any fandom you can think of. While some people may think that the app isn’t appropriate, it really doesn’t have that much bad language or inappropriate pictures. You can find memes, gifs, and random things that only a member of your fandom would understand. They have quotes from Harry Potter, and some are the most obscure quotes from the book. Anyone who just read the books once wouldn’t remember them. I have so much fun finding these quotes in the books. Happy fandoming (is that even a word? Oh well.)!
Hi Dahlia,
App? My favorite app is Newtown Pippin. That’s what Martinelli’s uses in their sparkling bottled juice. 🙂
Dear Dahlia your comments about the APPS is great and very informative for me (I am going to post shortly my jewelry on ETSY.) Also it’s impressive your knowledge of literature, history, and “mythological GODS or creatures “
