Challenge Week 2: Tony C’s
Breathe in, breathe out. The unique aroma of Italian food should waft up your nose. You should see black and red drapes, and candle-lit, black granite tables. This is one of my favorite places in Austin: Tony C’s.
Why, might you ask, do I love this place so much? The food. The wonderful, amazing food. The chicken Parmesan that only my grandma could match, the garlic bread rolls, the pizza, the pasta…. Every single thing I’ve tried on the menu (and I’ve tried almost the whole thing!) has been awesome, authentic, and delivered by the fantastic waiting staff that few places can match. Hmmm… where to start? Ah! My absolute favorite, the chicken parmesan! The chicken is prepared right when you order it, so it may take a while, but it’s worth the wait. Breading almost falling off the chicken as you cut it, and the chicken is so tender, so fine, you could use a butter knife to cut it. When trying the pizza, only one word should come to mind: yum! The pasta is creamy, filled with butter or olive oil, and don’t get me started on the garlic bread rolls! All the food is perfect, and the dessert is even better. Chocolate torte, ten different flavors of gelato, many kinds of cheesecake… I could go on and on.
Next, it’s the atmosphere. It may look old, or gothic, but that first observation is proved immediately wrong by the kind and friendly wait staff. Their smiling faces and cheerful attitude make the whole place shine. They wait on you almost hand and foot, taking drinks to be refilled without a question asked. Tony C’s is perfect for a date, a family outing, a party, and so much more! If you don’t like your food (blasphemy!) they’ll take it away and bring you even better food. So, in my mind, there is no other place in Austin that could compare.
So, next time you’re in the Hill Country Galleria, stop by at Tony C’s and take a peek! I’d put the directions in, if I wasn’t sure I’d bungle it all up and get y’all hopelessly lost. I can guarantee, the staff, their service, and the food will be excellent!
Wow! I’d bet that Tony C’a would print this out, frame it, and post it on their wall! Yum!!! Can’t wait until we can go back!
Mom
Aww, you’re making me blush! Thanks for the vote of confidence!
I agree with your mom–a restaurant review that Tony C’s would be proud to post!
I’ve never been there, but now I’ve got to take the family :- )
It may be redundant, but you should definitely send this review to the restaurant. I love how you picked one place in Austin and really went in depth. Very descriptive! I wish I lived closer.
PS. Is the snow fall coming from your background? Very cool!
Yes, the snow is falling in my background. Thank you for taking the time to comment and leave some kind words! I’m glad you enjoyed the essay.

Dahlia, you have succeeded in making me very, very hungry! My mouth is watering just thinking about that chicken parmesan! Your imagery was fantastic!
I’m proud! Thanks, Carly. We’re going again soon, want me to bring you some back? Seriously, thank you for the kind words.
Amazing sentence variety and word choice! You sound like a very enthusiastic customer. You use many examples to prove and support your point. I have never been to this restraunt before, but whilst I was reading this, the restraunt became a vivid picture in my mind. Any restraunt would be proud to get such a detailed review! Nice job!
Thanks! You HAVE to go. It’s like, my favorite restaurant in Austin (and that’s saying something, ’cause we have Phil’s Ice House, Hula Hut, Shady Grove, etc.). Seriously, try it. Please. You won’t be disappointed. And, trust me, the real thing is even better than my description of it.
I have never been to Tony C’s. but this post makes be want to go and try it. I agree with the other comments and think you should send it to the restaurant.
Great work! I love Tony C’s, even though I’ve only been there once… Keep up the good work!
Only if you do! I know what you mean, I didn’t think that it was possible for a restaurant to be that good… oh well…
Mmmm… this makes my mouth water. Your writing is as good as the pizza there because yes, it is good. Very good. I love the way you described all the food with lots of imagery.
Merci beaucoup! Yes, the pizza there is fantastic. Too bad we can’t have any ’til Tuesday! Thanks for the positive support!
